When you stay at the Pitcher Plant Farm, you are in for a back-to-nature lifestyle and an out-of-the-usual tourist destination. Situated at the boundary of the forest in a 700-meter altitude, the setting is rustic, and the 400-meter road from the highway to the Farm is unpaved.

Because the path is only lighted by a few LED lights, you get an increased appreciation for the added lighting provided by the fireflies, glow worms, flourescent mushrooms (!), the moon, and the stars. Sleep to the music of cicades and frogs with background vocals presented by visiting owls, and awake to the often foggy morning, with birds chirping, and cows mooing. Take a walk down to the spring, watch our unique plants catching and eating their breakfast, do some birdwatching (as we have frequent visits by kingfisher, sunbirds, caucal and a lot of birds we haven't identified yet), read your favorite novel on the adirondack chair, take a bath in our flame fired outdoor kawa (NEW!), indulge in a relaxing massage from the village hilots, sign up for a day tour around Bukidnon, or simply sit back and do nothing. At night, bond with yourself or with loved ones in front of a bonfire.

Our farm spreads over more than a hectare of terrain, which features a natural spring, fish ponds, a creek, views to numerous surrounding mountains, rice paddies, and lots of forest. The land itself has an intense forest feel, due to more than a hundred fruit trees (Lanzones, Citrus, Rambutan, Marang, Durian, Santol, Jack Fruit, Longkong, Coffee and much more), giant Bamboo, Mahogany, and Eucalyptus trees. If you want to go hiking, you can start right at our farm. The forests behind our farm are habitat to many carnivorous plants including Nepenthes, Utricularia and even Drosera.

homemade bread available upon request beware of the giant mushrooms :)

Even as you are deprived of the urban convenience, we provide you with a broadband internet service so you remain connected with our global village - even during brown-out :-). Despite the ultra-remote feel, Gaisano Mall, Bethel hospital, the bus terminal and numerous restaurants are less than 4km away. And believe it or not, you can even call some restaurants to deliver your dinner :) No greedy corkage fees here, but please take care of your trash then.

Pitcher Plant Farm is an ideal place for idea generation, report writing, retreat, and eco-tourism for individuals and small groups. Our farm runs 150% on solar power, we donate our surplus to our neighbor and the city of Malaybalay - feel free to leave the lights on :-) - electric bills are history.

We are baking fresh whole wheat bread every day and it is part of our breakfast (P250 per head). You can also buy a large loaf of bread (900+ gram) at P150 as a souvenir - please order ahead, as it takes 4 hours.

Reminders if you book with us: For reservation we will usually request the first night to be paid ahead of time (BPI). As we are reserving the room against other bookings, this money can be under no circumstances refunded or used for future bookings/date moving. Please note that our check-in time is 2 pm and check-out 12 noon. If you overstay you will be subject to 10% of your room rate per hour, so please arrange with us if you need a late check out. Please make also sure to request our map through e-mail, as some guests (esp. arriving at night) find it not perfectly easy to locate our farm.
